I'll be placing a small order today for some garlic here:
https://www.seedsavers.org/category/garlic I just placed an order for two bulbs of Chesnok Red, which comes from Georgia. From what I can see, it will make a great addition to my cooking projects next year. Does anyone else plan on growing some garlic next year? Now would be the time to order and plant it! |

Now would be a great time, Mike - have you ever planted any garlic, or is it something you might want to try?

Never have done garlic, seems like something I would try though, we use a lot of it.

We planted some for last summer; it was just an "experiment" with some extra cloves that we had in the kitchen. we didn't get much, but what we got was very good.
The two bulbs I ordered should contain a total of 16 to 20 cloves for planting. If each of those bulbs prospers, I should have a good supply next year to use with cooking projects, with plenty left over for planting even more next fall. Maybe I'll turn a larger section of our lawn into a "garlic farm" - it's one of my favourite things to use in cooking. |
